Surrender

The stillness has been broken and the water is awake.
A thousand geese have landed on the surface of the lake.
Ripples lapping out in all directions to the shore
Make the sound of tiny angel voices calling out for more.

This, the Lake of Spirit, is asleep within us all,
Until the day it is awoken by the Universal Call.
The Call is always there. It's a constant simple sound,
Seeking only to be listened for, simply to be found.

Humans, for millennia, have tried to find its name
In the hope that we can capture it and somehow make a claim.
But Spirit can't be bottled or collected up to save.
Nor can Spirit be a tool to get us all the things we crave.

Spirit is the Everything that seeks to understand
How it feels to be separate like a single grain of sand.
So here we are, just grains of sand, but all of us unique.
We're separate but connected as we quest for what we seek.

For every grain of sand comes from one gigantic mountain,
And every drop of water, from the Universal Fountain,
And every human being's an expression of the peace
That we find when we surrender to the ultimate release.
